The grandparent visitation we were granted with our grandson in PA stipulated that when we make the trip to PA to see him, he is with us for the entirety of the 7 days. We take him to school, feed him, pick him up from school, work on any preschool projects, and even take him to the doctor if need be. We basically call a hotel room HOME for the week.
Our grandson went to Preschool for five hours a day, so that left me with a lot of free time. What was I going to do during this time? Just sit in the hotel room or go sight-seeing by myself? I decided to go through the process to get my fingerprint and background check so that, maybe, I could volunteer in my grandson’s class for a couple of hours each of the days that I am visiting. I already have my fingerprint card for AZ as I help out in the class my daughter teaches, so that’s a plus!
For the next 1 ½ years I traveled to PA ten times and I volunteered in his classroom. The children called me Gramma Linda. I got to know the teachers. And the experience was fun and enlightening! I decided to write a children’s book about my time in the Preschool classroom with my grandson. It’s called “Gramma goes to Preschool” and it is now available on AMAZON.
I hope you enjoy it!
